    How Does Nintendo of America provide end user support for the America's?
    If you need support for your Nintendo product, please visit support.nintendo.com for online assistance. If you can't find the help you need on our website, Nintendo of America also provides customer service in English, French and Spanish. Nintendo of America - Employee Welfare and Well-being:
    What kinds of measures are taken at Nintendo of America to promote work-life balance and employee wellbeing?
    Nintendo of America offers employees various programs and opportunities to help promote healthy lifestyle choices, as well as continuing education and training. Some examples of these programs and opportunities are:
    • Nintendo of America has been recognized by the American Heart Association as one of its Start! Fit-Friendly Companies.
    • Comprehensive ergonomic workstation considerations for all Nintendo of America employees, including corporate support of an active employee-based Ergonomic Task Force, annual and on-demand training, and multiple levels of ergonomic assessment opportunities for fixed and non-fixed workstations.
    • Nintendo of America supports a comprehensive employee "safety at work" program that actively assesses injury risk, works to mitigate the risk with local management and maintains regulatory compliance. A no-cost-to-employee's opportunity to participate and gain lifetime skills in 1st Aid / Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
    • Subsidized safety-shoe program for all Operations employees.
    • Subsidized transportation options including the free use of an onsite Zipcar and bus passes.

What does Nintendo of America do to help protect the environment?
Nintendo of America is very concerned with doing our part to help preserve the environment. We are always researching new ways to make our products, operations and corporate offices as environmental-friendly as possible. Product Take Back and Recycling Programs:

Product Repairs and Returns:

  • Nintendo products can be sent in for repair by contacting our Consumer Service department at 1-800-255-3700 between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (Pacific Time), seven days a week.
  • In calendar year 2010, Nintendo of America processed 860 tons of returned products (U.S. and Canada), of which 65% was reused and 35% recycled. We also offer a take back program for consumers with older products, rechargeable batteries, etc.
Corporate Offices and Distribution Centers:

  • Nintendo of America's new headquarters building in Redmond, Wash., was awarded LEED Gold Status by the U.S. Green Building Council, placing it among the nation's top-rated buildings for sustainability and environmental friendliness. LEED certification indicates that a company has taken measurable steps to implement green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
  • We actively promote composting programs wherever possible.
  • Our Procurement department reviews all materials purchased to ensure, whenever possible, that we are receiving the most environmentally friendly products including office supplies such as recycled paper clips, report covers, note pads and restroom products.
  • We actively promote the recycling of aluminum cans, plastic bottles, paper, glass, cardboard and batteries.
  • We use recycled paper in our printers and copiers and limit our use of colored paper, since it's not easily recycled.
  • We use recycled paper as packaging for all our retail shipments.
In our product packaging:

  • Our instruction manuals and inserts use vegetable based inks.
  • Recyclable cardboard packaging has replaced PVC/PET clamshells for all Wii and Nintendo 3DS accessories.
  • We were able to reduce the amount of plastic used to manufacture Wii disc and Nintendo DS game cases by more than 23 percent.
Logistics and Transportation:

  • 100 percent of our freight carriers have been certified through the EPA's SmartWay program. The program goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through collaboration with the freight transportation industry.

What kinds of community and corporate giving activities are undertaken at Nintendo of America?
Nintendo of America makes corporate contributions to charitable organizations on an on-going basis. Additionally, Nintendo of America offers an Employee Matching Gifts Program where Nintendo will match, dollar-for-dollar or product-for-product, employee donations to qualified organizations of the employee's choice. Nintendo of America has also established a dedicated employee organization for charitable activities called the NGiving Committee.
Here are some of the charitable organizations and events that are supported by Nintendo of America and its employees.
  • United Way of King County: Nintendo has a long relationship with this charitable organization that has many community-based organizations under their charitable umbrella. Early learning and ending homelessness are two of the community's most pressing issues.
  • United Way of the Bay Area: Ensuring all residents have access to the building blocks to a better life: education, income and health.
  • United Way of New York City: Connects people, resources and ideas to create a thriving community characterized by income stability, educational success, and healthy people.
  • The Starlight Children's Foundation: Nintendo sponsors events for both the Washington Chapter and the National organization of this charitable foundation to benefit seriously ill children and their families. Nintendo helps fund the production, repair, and operations costs for the Fun Centers, specially designed for use in pediatric hospital settings.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue: Annual Charity Auction Sponsorship, Celebration Luncheon Sponsorship, and Youth of the Year Awards, Friends Breakfast Sponsorship, SMART Girls Program Event Sponsorship, holiday "Adopt-a-Family," and product donations for miscellaneous events.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue Low-Income Public Housing Site "Eastside Terrace": Annual Sponsorship (toward operating expenses), Special Events sponsorship, Summer Swimsuit Drive, Summer Reading Program support, Backpack & School Supply Drive, and Winter Coat Drive.
  • Wellspring Family Services: Annual Luncheon Sponsorship.
  • Wellspring Family Services: Baby Boutique: Annual donation and Toys for Holiday Room.
  • Make A Wish Foundation: Annual Sponsorship, monetary and product.
  • The ESA (Entertainment Software Association) Foundation: Nite to Unite event sponsorship.
